Aleli saw this show from Argentina . The show - Zoo Bichos shows animals in the Zoo (in Buenos Aires) and it showed a lizard . She enjoyed watching this show. Its in Spanish. So she also hears also the language as well.  They give this show on Telefe -International on Direct TV. This show is great to watch and learn about "Bichos" or "creatures".

Spanish: TVE-Television Espanola

Aleli enjoyed watching  a nature/environment documentary in Spanish about the species in Spain. She saw their habitats and all about their Spring activities in the Iberian peninsula. She also watched the Lunis and other Spanish programming for kids. She has also been practicing her Conversational Spanish skills.

Aleli is practicing her Spanish language skills daily at home. She is listening to Spanish and practicing to Speak it daily. She is learning new vocabulary in Spanish.

Road Trip :

We took a Road Trip last week. Aleli learned about traveling and maps. She learned to follow signs on the road and look at the maps. We traveled from NC to Fl and back. She learned more about places in NC, SC, Georgia and Florida.  She practiced her reading and her Spanish skills in Miami. She also learned about miles and measuring distances on the road. We talked about a count down in miles till we reached a destination. She also learned about counting down to the New Year with the time as reference. So she learned alot in the road trip.

Aleli practiced Spanish and writing in Spanish. She practiced writing simple sentence in Spanish.

Aleli played with her dominoes and counted the pieces. She practiced her numbers in both English and Spanish.

We are also starting to learn more about Chile from a family who homeschools in Chile. We will look it up in the map and read more about Chile on the web. This will be an ongoing project about learning about new places and ways to practice her Spanish skills.

Thursday Morning Work

Aleli will write in Spanish sight words in her Spanish notebook. The words are from the Bk about Dora which is bilingual story book. She will also be writing words in Spanish based on  a product called - Mis Primeras Palabras. She will write and read the Spanish sight words. She will also practice writing simple Spanish sentences. Mi nombre es *****. Mi favorito color es ****.
This will help her practice writing and reading in Spanish. This will build her vocabulary in Spanish.

Spanish: Reading & Writing

Aleli practiced reading words in Spanish and writing down the words. She also tried making the drawings and labeling the pictures in Spanish. This book has 100 Spanish sight words.

Story Time : Reading

Aleli read 2 Sound Box Books. I read to Aleli a Junie B Jones Book. At MCES her 1st grade teacher had started reading Junie B. Jones Books to the class. Junie B. Jones is one of Aleli's favorite kids series. So I began reading the story - Junie B Jones Is Not a Crook by Barbara Park. We are on Ch 4 on the book. We will contine reading the story.

Mister Maker, Art

Mister Maker is also an online site that follows the show. The program is available in English and Spanish. However, Aleli will be exploring Art with Mister Maker in Spanish.
